History of Paragliding Sport
The origin of paragliding has roots in the sport of parachuting. In the early 1960's, American parachutist Pierre Lemoigne was successful in cutting slots in the round parachute canopy to allow for air to flow through the canopy. This had a dramatic effect on the lift to drag ratio and allowed the pilot to steer the chute in a predictable manner.

Paragliding at Kite Beach Cabarete Dominican Republic
Kitexcite is also a paragliding school and so, we can give you paragliding lessons on the beach if your vacation falls on no wind days. This way you can make the most out of your short holiday.
Even though it is almost always windy here in Cabarete, there are the odd days where there is no wind. It is on days like these when we get out the paragliders!
This means no longer sitting around waiting for wind but a whole new experience and adrenaline rush instead!
We have a winch system installed in our rescue boat. Basically this system allows us to release 800 meters of rope with a constant pressure in order to tow up paragliders over Cabarete Bay. We already realized several flights reaching heights until 600 meters.
