Know anything about buying a kitesurfing kite?
pinkmallow asked:
My husband windsurfs and now wants to kiteboard.
I wanted to buy some kitesurfing gear for my husbands birthday as he said he would like to try it but don't know were to start. Any advice would be useful.
What sort of kite surfing kite would be needed for a guy weighing 14 – 15 stone?
Curly Answers:
That would depend upon his kitesurfing locations, how strong the wind is in those kite surfing spots/beaches he goes to…
We'd recommend he first try out kites to get the feel of them and see if he likes them or not. Generally, we'd recommend Best Kiteboarding Kites. If your husband is just learning kite surfing, maybe best he takes lessons or rents gear at a good beginner kitesurfing beach like Kitebeach Cabarete.
Here is a tip: The Kitexcite Best Kiteboarding school (and Best's only authorized dealer) in Kitebeach we enable our customers to test drive the kites and will give you a best price guaranty. We can sort a special deal for course/rental/purchase. Alternatively, you may wish to consider purchasing secondhand kitesurfing kites instead of new expensive kites. The saving on 2nd hand kite could be put towards a holiday here, flight, or kite surfing lessons. See here for articles and videos about what's the right kitesurfing equipment to get and if to buy a new kite or a second hand used kitesurfing kite.

I think the best you could do for your husband is to start with a lessons package with a certified kiteboarding school like this one:. There is a plenty of kiteboarding schools in USA just google search away.
Let him decide after that if kiteboarding is for him. The equipment selection is based on weight, skills, wind condition and type of water surface /waves or flat water/ and there are different types of kite shapes like c-kite or bow kite. When taking lessons with pro instructor he will have a chance to ask what is best for his weight and the wind conditions in your area. Reading Kiteboarding magazine and forums will help him understand better the concept of kiteboarding. Remember that it is imerative for begginer to take at least 6 hours of lessons before trying on his own otherwise he could hurt himself badly.
