Learning kiteboarding in a kiteboarding school definitely saves you money and time and troubles like scars, bad experiences and maybe even serious bodily harm to yourself and or to others around you on the beach.

Kiteboarding is an extreme sport and the kite has tons of power, power you must be able to harness!

Think of it like going paragliding – without lessons!
Would you do that?
Would you sky-dive without lessons?

The new safe kite systems, like the bow kite, make it much safer to kiteboard, therefore very few accidents occur, though those occuring are largely because those poeple didn't learn properly how to setup kiteboarding equipment on the beach, they didn't know the right angle for assistant helping them launch the kite, they didn't know how to connect the lines correctly , how to depower and basically – how to control and fly this Power Kite.

Did you realize that a typical kitesurf Kite lines can take the weight of 500 pounds (250kg) – on each line?
What this means is these lines can bear 1 ton weight before breaking.
You don't weigh 1 ton, do you? Yet we still see people returning with broken lines!
This can happen in jumps and flights, with super strong wind in the kite or sudden power gust to rip like this.

So please realize kiteboarding is not like windsurfing….
A kite will lift you up and is strong enough to move a car.
So a kiteboard is not something you give a present to a child, to a 10 yo, or to anyone – not without them learning how to use it and understanding the wind and the kite.
And learning to keep this amazing and excitingly powerful kiteboarding kite under control.

Look, the thing is, it all boils down to kiteboarding technique;
So what you need to do is learn how to tame "the beast" and to be able to control your kite.

You must know how to master the technique of properly handling and controling this amazing power of the kite!!!

The Cabarete Kiteboarding Story – How it all Begun

Let me tell you a little story. Back in 1999 Stefan was the first one kiteboarding in Cabarete.
People thought it was a crazy sport when they saw him struggling to learn how to kite surf with those old kites back then.
He had no options how to learn kiteboarding, so he had to teach himself.
Somehow, after 4 hard long months, where Stefan stubbornly spent 2-4 hours Each Day learning how to kitesurf, getting injury upon injury in the process, finally he managed it.

And he never wanted to windsurf again, once he could kiteboard.

He then found Kitebeach, then called something else, was the best kiteboarding kitesurfing beach in the Dominican Republic and started the first kiteboarding school in the Caribbean.

Stefan, being a good efficient German, always searched for more efficient ways to teach kiteboarding to his students.

So as result of this, our kite surfing students these days can progress to similar level in merely 10-20 days (as Stefan did in 4 months' hard work back then)- void the scars he still carries around. When I say 10-20 days I don't mean just the basics of kiteboarding, but also some jumping, and more advanced stuff.

This fast kite surfing learning curve is partially due to state-of-the-art kiteboarding equipment but mostly to our advanced teaching techniques, in the Kitexcite Best Kiteboarding School.
