  Downwind Trip from Yasica River
TOP

The Rio Yasica runs into the ocean. The water is very refreshing and shallow-- surface is approx. 200 x 60 m. Since the wind blows side off-shore, this spot is only for intermediate to advanced kiters. After playing in the shallow water of the Rio Yasica, you can refresh yourself in a small Dominican beach-bar before leaving the river to head out for the ocean.

With two Kitesurf instructors/guides, you then kite along the shore of the 12 km beach to our school KITEXCITE. For the exact route, check out the (month) 2001 issue of the german magazine kite-boarding.de (lots of pictures and a very detailed report).

Downwind Trip Cabarete/El Encuentro
TOP

On this trip, we start from the KITEXCITE base at Kite Beach with two of our Kitesurf instructors/guides. The waves accompany us on the 6km Downwind Trip to El Encuentro, the best surf spot in the Dominican Republic. Depending upon the season, waves break from 50cm to 4m high. For those who aren't comfortable with the waves yet, a route can be safely kited between the reefs and the sand beach.

Upon arrival at El Encuentro, one can either relax on the beach or rip up the waves to their heart's content! The wind here is typically diagonally side-shore from the right and the waves break approx. 50-100m before the bank. This spot is one of the best locations for extremely high JUMPS and wave riding. If you left family or friends at the school, they can take the shuttle which picks us up at El Encuentro, and join us for a nice rest. From the beach bar in the shadow under the palms, one has a fantastic view of the Kite scene.
